Mistake: Thinking You Can Build and Maintain Your Outdoor Website Yourself

Everyone who has a Website has considered the notion of building it themselves. Many software programs exist on the market that are toted as a "do it yourself" product. Yet, many people purchase these programs only to find that the technical ability needed to use them would take months to master. The fact of the matter is, unless you are a programmer, then you are going to have a hard time building your own Website. The tools you see advertised as "do it yourself" still require basic Web programming knowledge and will take many hours and weeks to master. It just is not that simple. And if you want ECommerce - forget it.

Even if you put the hours, days, and weeks in to mastering a "do it yourself" product, there is a slew of other things that need to be done that the software will not help you with. Such as:

Choosing a Web Host for it
Configuring network records so your domain name can be found.
Uploading the Website to a Web Server.
Configuring Email Accounts.

And that is a short list. Buying a "do it yourself" program and expecting to just drag and drop your Website in to action is a mistake. It won't happen and you will quickly realize the program was a waste of money. You would be better off investing your money in having a professional build it.
